Transferring your domain from StormerHost Ghana to another provider is a straightforward process, but it involves a few necessary steps to ensure a smooth and secure transfer. This guide walks you through everything you need to do.
Prerequisites
- Your domain is more than 60 days old (ICANN policy).
- Your domain is not within 15 days of expiration (to avoid interruptions).
- You have access to your StormerHost client area and registered email.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Log in to the StormerHost Client Portal. Visit https://www.stormerhost.com/clients.
- Enter your login credentials to access your domain management dashboard.
- Unlock the domain for transfer, follow the guide here to unlock the registrar and get the EEP/Auth code: https://support.stormerhost.com/knowledgebase/how-to-find-the-authorization-code-epp-code-on-stormerhost-client-area/
- After going through the steps above, you can now initiate the transfer with the new registrar.
Initiate Transfer with New Registrar
- Log in to your new registrar (e.g., Namecheap, GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc.).
- Start the domain transfer process.
- Enter your domain name and paste the EPP/Auth Code when prompted.
- Pay the transfer fee (typically includes 1-year domain renewal). Approve Transfer via Email
- Check your domain’s admin email address for a confirmation message from the new registrar or registry.
- Click the approval link to authorize the transfer.
Wait for completion; domain transfers typically take 5–7 days to complete.
You’ll receive confirmation from your new registrar once it’s done.
Important Notes
- You cannot transfer expired domains. Renew first if necessary
- After transfer, domain settings (like DNS) may need reconfiguration at the new host.
