How to Enable or Change PHP Extensions in cPanel

At StormerHost, we provide an intuitive way for clients to manage their PHP environment directly from cPanel. If your application requires specific PHP extensions (e.g. curl, mbstring, intl), you can easily enable or disable them without needing any coding or server-side knowledge.

This guide walks you through enabling or changing PHP extensions using the Select PHP Version feature in your cPanel account.

Steps to Enable or Disable PHP Extensions

  1. Log in to Your cPanel Visit: https://yourdomain.com/cpanel Enter your cPanel username and password (You can also access cPanel through the StormerHost Client Area)
  2. Open the “Select PHP Version” tool. Navigate to the Software section and click on Select PHP Version.

    Click on Select PHP Version.

  3. Click on Select PHP Version. At the top of the page, you’ll see a dropdown with available PHP versions.Choose your preferred PHP version if required and click Set as current to apply the version.Note: Some extensions are only available for specific PHP versions.
  4. Enable or disable extensions.Click on “extension” from the PHP selector, and you will see a list of available PHP extensions.

    Tick the checkbox to enable or disable the extensions.

    To enable an extension, tick the checkbox next to its name.

    To disable an extension, uncheck the box.

    Click Save (if applicable) to apply the changes.
